Accident Scene Management Course at IWMC

The AMA International Women & Motorcycling Conference is pleased to announce the addition of “A Crash Course for the Motorcyclist” as part of its seminar lineup for those attending the 2012 event in Carson City, Nev., July 26-29.

The course, with backing from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, will be conducted by Vicki Sanfelipo, founder of Accident Scene Management Inc. (ASMI), and Gina Woods of Open Road Radio.

Participants who complete the two-day workshop will receive certification in Motorcycle Trauma First Response and will learn what to do in the critical minutes following an accident prior to the arrival of professional help.

“While CPR and first aid are important skills, they are not enough training when it comes to motorcycle trauma,” said Sanfelipo.

Topics such as moving the injured, jaw-thrust breathing (to keep the neck still) and helmet removal will also be discussed.

The award-winning course has been taught to more than 20,000 people in the United States and will soon be taught in New Zealand, Canada and Mexico.

Hunter Valley police are still trying to work out where a Gladiators bikie was shot at the weekend

Hunter Valley police say an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang member recovering from multiple gun shot wounds is not under police guard, but officers are at John Hunter Hospital to ensure public safety.

The 56-year-old Gladiators member was shot several times on Sunday before a member of the public helped him to hospital.

Forensic investigators have examined the victim’s bike, which was found abandoned on Wine Country Drive at North Rothbury, as well as a burnt out car nearby.

Detective Inspector Trent King says several Gladiators members have visited the victim in hospital.

“The safety of the public is paramount for police, that’s one of our core duties,” he said.

“There’s nothing to say that the members of the OMCG that are at John Hunter are doing anything untoward at the moment, I know a number of them have visited the victim.
