Dad who took son, 2, on mini-moto ride without helmets jailed for breaching Asbo

A ‘STUPID’ dad who took his two-year-old son on a mini-moto ride while neither of them were wearing helmets has been jailed.

Andrew Eardley was locked up for 12 weeks after breaching his five-year antisocial behaviour order.

One of the requirements of the Asbo, given to him in 2008, was that he must not possess alcohol in a public place.

But North Staffordshire magistrates heard the 25-year-old was found drinking a can of lager in Albermarle Road, Knutton, on September 29.

Eardley, of Clayton Lane, Newcastle, also admitted a host of other offences during yesterday’s hearing at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre.

Among them, he pleaded guilty to using a mini-moto motorcycle without insurance or a test certificate, failing to wear protective head gear and ‘using the vehicle in a manner likely to cause danger to a passenger’, on July 3.

Eardley admitted his two-year-old son had been on the bike with him and neither were wearing crash helmets.

He told police he did it to ‘please’ his son and realised it was a stupid thing to do.

Eardley, also admitted receiving a television stolen from Cross Heath Methodist Church between September 15 and September 21.
