Liow: Cost to own a motorcycle licence down to RM299

Transport minister says that the MyLesen programme is to encourage the young, who do not have a licence, to own one now.

PUTRAJAYA: The cost of obtaining a motorcycle licence will go down to RM299 via MyLesen from September 15 compared to the current RM350, said Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai.

He said the MyLesen programme was introduced to encourage the young, who do not have a licence, to do so.

“Many youths ride motorcycles without a licence. This is very dangerous. Out of 10 motorcyclists, three are without licences.

“Riding a motorcycle without the licence is not acceptable. So, we urge them to quickly get their licences and the MyLesen programme is aimed at helping them,” he told reporters after a 2015 Merdeka ‘Kasih Tour’ organised by the Young 1RTD Squad here, today.

He added that the MyLesen programme would be implemented by the Road Transport Department (RTD) with the cooperation of participating driving schools.

Commenting on the measures to reduce accidents on the road, he said the Transport Ministry, RTD, Malaysian Road Safety Institute and the Land Public Transport Commission were in the process of reviewing the ‘keja…………… continues on Free Malaysia Today
