Ram-raiders smash Knypersley garage in early morning bike theft

THIEVES stole a high powered motorbike and a quad bike after ram-raiding a motorcycle garage in the early hours of the morning.

The raid at Road and Race Motorcycles in Knypersley was caught on CCTV at around 3.50am yesterday morning.

Business owner Ken Rome has been left counting the cost after the culprits made off with an off-road motorbike and a quad bike.

The vehicles weren’t insured and Mr Rome says he will lose around £2,500.

Sole trader Mr Rome, aged 50, who lives in Knypersley, opened Road and Race around two-and-half years ago.

He said: “You can see on the CCTV that they reversed at high speed into the building.

“I have got these big metal roller shutters and they have been smashed in.

“It’s a right mess, there is glass all over the place.

“I’ve got it on CCTV – it looks like they used a white Escort van but you can’t make out the registration.

“You can see them loading the quad bike into the van.

“They’ve even left a crowbar behind.”
